I work in a beautiful clothing consignment store and many women over fifty come in looking for a summer dress. They want easy going, relaxed fit but not completely shapeless, with some sort of sleeve (do we ALL dislike our arms?), easy care, and NOT made of polyester or other sweaty synthetic material. That sounds good to me, too!

When the temperature rises and you don’t want anything too tight against your skin, a short summer dress is a comfortable alternative to shorts and t-shirt. Get some sunshine on those legs and show off your jams!

I admit you really have to dig through the offerings in stores and online to find easy going, chic dresses that fit well and feel good against your skin, especially in the heat. I searched online, and came up with some style ideas for you.

Some of these styles are more casual and appropriate for a barbeque or poolside party. Others are eye-catching styles with coverage and gorgeous patterns for party time! The key is to find the silhouette that flatters your shape, with a pop of color, and the right fabric that flows gently over your body. You can do this!
