What are you doing to celebrate the end of one year and unfolding of another?
If you’re a party gal, I love the idea of a fancy skirt paired with a simple sweater. Unlike the glamour of past decades (Esther Williams photo) we’re more relaxed now. And yet, around the holidays, with a chill in the air, tables overflowing with sweets, delectable beverages, and wonderful conversations, you want to look and feel your best. Comfortable, chic, extraordinary, extravagant….wear something special.
If you’re like me, you enjoy quiet time to reflect on the past year. I think back on the highs and lows, and I ask myself if there is anything I might have done differently and what would have changed as a result. I’m not one to wallow in regrets or “what ifs” as I’m more likely to look ahead to the excitement of a new year and the possibilities that await.
I will remind you to look back fondly on all your decisions this year, as everything that happened was meant to happen. We almost never get everything right and who is perfect anyway? That includes all the clothes you bought. It’s a great time of year to unburden yourself of the pieces you bought and never wear. Pass them along to someone else, free up your closet, unclutter your life!
This year was special. Next year will be even MORE special. I have big plans and high hopes. I want to create more confidence-boosting style tips, offer exciting webinar topics, write a book, and get to know you better. How lucky I am to be able to bring self-awareness, style insights, and confidence to women of a certain age.
Let’s Celebrate 2016! I’ve picked out some of my favorite holiday looks to inspire you to create special outfits from your own closet. Most of us own either a sparkly top, dressy black pants, or a cashmere sweater. You can find most of the outfits on the Neiman Marcus website (I do not have an association with Neiman, I just like their fashion sense).
Here Are 6 Comfy and Chic Holiday Outfits….
Enjoy the holiday!
Love all the looks, especially #1 and 5! Thanks for the great tips. Merry Christmas!
Thank you Louise! I just posted on Facebook a couple weeks ago photos of 5 flat, chic shoes that would work beautifully with a long tunic and leggings. Kate Spade Smoking Flats (paten leather), Jeffrey Campbell pewter loafers, Stuart Weitzman Giligan flats, Rag & Bone suede loafers. Check out my FB page for photos or I can email photos to you.
I love your encouraging remarks about letting go of the need to be perfect.
Can you suggest any shoes that look good that aren’t heels and also aren’t great-grandma shoes to wear with those long tunic + legging outfits? Thanks!
