If you’re in the market for a new handbag that feels and looks like springtime, here are some trends you’ll see in all the stores. I confess I don’t change my purse to match my outfit, unless I’m dressing up. In that case, I’ll carry a clutch or grab one of my vintage sequined pouches for a touch of drama. But, most of the time, I’m carrying the same handbag every day. So, it has to complement all my every day outfits, and it has to be roomy enough to carry all the things I want to have with me. That’s why I’m in love with the totes this spring, especially the woven and straw “beach” totes that have more than enough room for all my business cards, color cards, a few scarves, makeup, and whatever else I need.
When I look at runway designer handbags, I appreciate the fine materials and workmanship that go into creating them, but for me, personally, I don’t stay with a bag long enough to warrant the investment (stylists call this “cost per wear”). For some women, it doesn’t make sense to spend thousands on a handbag when they have other priorities. For others, it’s a wise investment because they enjoy and appreciate the high quality and name brand. Who knows why women crave new designer handbags? I’m not one to judge. If you love designer handbags and you can afford them, I say go for it!
